RailPro External

RailPro External is an external rope access rail system designed to provide continuous fall protection and safe rope access on building façades. It delivers smooth, hands-free movement and shorter fall distances than cable systems.

RailPro External

PROVEN PERFORMANCE

The Ultimate Modular Rigid Rail Anchorage System

RailPro External delivers continuous fall protection and smooth, hands-free movement across building facades. Its rigid aluminium rail stays perfectly algined, reducing fall distances and out performing cable systems, without compromising the building's appearance.

Workers stay connected at all times, moving freely along the rail with no need to stop or reattach.

  • Flexible Navigation
  • Follows corners and contours down to a 600mm radius for complex facades and rooflines.
  • Enhanced Safety
  • Suitable for fall arrest and rope access, providing consistent, reliable protection.
  • Minimal Deflection
  • Rigid rail design keeps fall distances short, ideal where clearance is limited.
  • Even Load Distribution
  • Forces are spread along the rail, reducing strain on individual anchors.
  • Durable Aluminium Finish
  • Anodised 6000-series aluminium resists corrosion in coastal and industrial environments.

Perfect Level Alignment

RailPro External stays perfectly level with no cable sag, and no bunching. Trolleys glide smoothly along the rail, giving users true hands-free movement.

Drastically Reduced Fall Distances

The rigid rail limits deflection to under 100mm, even under load. That means far lower fall distances than cable systems, ideal when clearance is tight.

Complex Route Navigation

Standard corners and custom curves allow RailPro to follow facades, rooflines and architectural features while maintaining continuous protection.

Straightforward Installation

Modular rail sections, joints and corners bolt together quickly, making installation faster and simpler than tensioned cable system.

VERSATILE APPLICATIONS

Unmatched Versatility for Fall Protection and Rope Access

Engineered for a broad range of working-at-height scenarios, RailPro External excels in both fall arrest and rope access applications. The system enables workers to traverse protected routes as well as suspend from the rail for façade cleaning, maintenance, or inspection work.

  • Façade access and window cleaning
  • Continuous rope access without the constant rigging and de-rigging.
  • Roof edge protection
  • Safe access to rooftop equipment, HVAC systems, and building envelope elements.
  • Complex building geometries
  • Continuous protection around corners, curves, and architectural features.
  • High-rise buildings
  • Efficient maintenance access on tall structures where cable system deflection would be problematic.
  • Industrial facilities
  • Overhead installations provide fall protection in manufacturing, warehousing, or processing environments.
  • Bridge infrastructure
  • Secure access for inspection and repair beneath bridges or along elevated structures.

DESIGN EXCELLENCE

Discreet Appearance with Exceptional Durability

RailPro External is built for performance, but designed to blend in. Clean lines and concealed fixings ensure the system complements modern architecture rather than distracting from it.

Concealed Fixings

Fasteners are hidden within the rail profile, keeping the system visually discreet, ideal for design-led and sensitive facades.

Durable Anodised Finish

The 6000-series anodised aluminium provides long-term corrosion resistance in coastal, industrial and exposed environments.

Custom Colours

RailPro External can be powder-coated in any RAL colour to match cladding, facades, or branding, adding both protection and a refined finish.

PRECISION ENGINEERING

Engineered Components for Reliable Performance

Rail Profile

Precision-engineered aluminium rail with integrated trolley tracks and hidden fixings for a clean, professional finish. Supplied in long, continuous lengths for fewer joints and smoother travel.

joining kit for external rail

Joining Kit

Joins the end of two tails and maintains the integrity of the systems in all fall arrest and suspended rope access situations.

travelling device for rigid rail rope access

Trollies

A highly efficient traveller system with eight integral stainless-steel wheels, each fitted with individual bearings. Four of these wheels are precisely aligned within the integral locating track of the aluminium profile, ensuring smooth and effortless movement along the rail.

End Push Pins

Used to ensure traveller cannot unintentionally detach from the system's end. The pin is placed through a hole within the rail and secured into position with the pre-equipped locking o-ring.

external rigid rail with 90-degree corners

90-Degree Corners

Pre-formed corners let the rail change direction without interrupting movement. Custom bends are available for tighter layouts, all designed to keep the trolley rolling smoothly with no snag points.

Universal Rail Anchors

Joins the ends of two rails and maintains the integrity of the systems in all fall arrest and suspended rope access situations.

FAQS

RailPro External Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to the most common technical and practical questions about RailPro External.

RailPro External removes the main limitations of cable lifelines.

Its rigid rail minimises sag and deflection, allowing safe use in areas where fall clearance is limited. Users benefit from smooth, hands-free movement without cable bunching or slack.

Structurally, loads are distributed along the rail rather than concentrated at end anchors, often reducing reinforcements. With no cables to tensions or replace, maintenance is simpler and long-term reliability is improved.

Yes. RailPro External is certified for multiple users under BS 8610:2019 and TS 16415:2013.

The rigid rail spreads loads evenly along the system, allowing several users to operate simultaneously without compromising structural safety. Each worker connects via an independent trolley, enabling coordinated movement across facades or roof routes.

System capacity is confirmed during design to ensure compliance.

RailPro External is engineered for long-term outdoor performance.

Its anodised aluminium construction resists corrosion and performs reliabily in rain, frost, snow, and temperature fluctuations. In coastal or industrial environments, enhanced finishes and marine-grade components can be specified.

Unlike cable systems, there are no tensioning issues or wind-related sag. Routine inspection and cleaning are typically all that's required.

On-site installation is usually completed within a few days to one week, depending on system complexity.

The overall programme is driven by surveys and engineering. Structural checks and design typically take several weeks, meaning most retrofit projects are completed within two to three months from enquiry to comissioning.

Early engagement helps streamline the process.

RailPro External typically sits above cable lifelines in upfront cost but offers lower lifecycle expenditure.

With no cables to tension or replace, inspection and maintenance costs are reduced. Over a 20-25 year period, total cost of ownership is often lower than cable-based systems.

It delivers the performance of concealed rigid systems without the architectural premium, making it a strong mid-tier investment.

RailPro External can be installed on most buildings subject to structural assessment.

Concrete and steel structures are typically straightforward. Masonry, timber, or mixed construction may require adapted fixings or supplementary steelwork.

Suitability depends on structural capacity, access, and routing geometry rather than building age or height. A professional survey confirms feasibility.

Rigid rail systems require significantly less clearance than cable lifelines due to minimal deflection.

Clearance calculations are completed as part of system design, taking into account lanyard type, user weight, and anchor position. This makes RailPro External suitable for low roof edges, facade zones, and areas above plant equipment.

Yes. As a fall arrest system, RailPro External requires periodic inspection in line with manufacturer guidance and relevant standards.

Inspections focus on structural fixings, rail integrity, and trolley condition. Unlike cable systems, there is no re-tensioning requirement.

Annual recertification is typically recommended.

Yes. RailPro External is commonly used for façade maintenance, suspended access, and rope applications.

The rigid rail provides predictable load trnasfer and controlled movement, making it suitable for repeated access along building elevations.

Each configuration is engineered to suit the specific access strategy.

A resuce plan is required for all fall arrest systems.

During design, access routes, user procedures, and potential resuce methods are reviewed to ensure safe recovery following a fall. Rescue planning is integrated into the overall system specification.

In most cases, RailPro External does not require planning permission when isntalled on commercial or industrial buildings.

However, listed buildings, conservation areas, or architecturally sensitive facades may require review. Early consultation ensures compliance where necessary.
